The origins of the Christian missionary work could be trace back to the mission given by Jesus Christ to his apostles after His resurrection found in Mathew’s gospel: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

For me, this isn’t my first mission, I started my missionary life back in my country, Lebanon, helping with many tasks in parishes working with young people. Also, last year I was a volunteer for the Taize community in France and later in Syria helping with camps for kids and young people victims of war.

This year I went back to France but I was in Lourdes this time as a missioner with YOUCAT, evangelizing the good news and the catholic faith.

Along with an international group, a new mission starts and many challenges await, but we are certain that He who sent us will never leave us alone.

More than once, exhaustion and disappointment made their way but the Lord was present every single moment to help and strengthen us.

This year was different from others since our job was focused at the heart of the Church’s mission: Evangelization.

To evangelize at an international site as Lourdes is, is a bit difficult but with the help and training from YOUCAT, which also provided all its material for the success of this mission, we were able to face the challenge.

The purpose of our mission was to work with every person we encountered, especially with young people and families. We prayed together, talked and listened to them, and guided them towards a path of faith that could arise from the smallest encounter.

During my time in Lourdes I received much more than what I gave. Every person I met taught me how to listen and love them, knowing that such person is unique and important to God. Time flew but: The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
